Publishing on LinkedIn in 5 Minutes

The express guide to turning an idea into a publishable LinkedIn post without spending an hour.

Publishing on LinkedIn in 5 Minutes

You have an idea for a post. But between the blank page and the published result, 45 minutes disappear and you end up not posting at all. The problem is not inspiration -- it is process. With the right framework, you can go from idea to published post in 5 minutes.

Why It Matters

Consistency beats quality on LinkedIn. One imperfect post published is worth more than ten perfect posts sitting in drafts. The algorithm rewards regular publishing, and your audience builds trust through repeated exposure to your thinking. But consistency requires speed, and speed requires a system.

The Process

Step 1: Start with One Sentence (30 seconds)

Write the core idea in one sentence. "Most startups fail at pricing because they copy competitors." That is your post. Everything else is packaging.

Step 2: Pick a Hook (1 minute)

Your hook is the first two lines -- the only thing visible before "see more." Choose one pattern: a surprising number, a bold statement, a question that challenges assumptions, or a short personal anecdote. The hook must create enough tension that the reader clicks to read more.

Step 3: Expand with Structure (2 minutes)

Take your one sentence and expand it into 3-5 short paragraphs. Use one of these simple structures: Problem-Insight-Takeaway, Story-Lesson-Application, or List of 3-5 actionable points. Short paragraphs. One idea per paragraph. White space is your friend.

Step 4: Close and Publish (1 minute)

End with a question to invite comments or a clear takeaway the reader can apply today. Do not overthink. Hit publish. You can always edit later.

Common Mistakes

Waiting for the perfect post -- done beats perfect. Always.

Writing long posts when starting out -- keep it under 150 words until you find your voice.

No hook -- burying the lead means nobody reads past the fold.

Publishing without a clear point -- every post should leave the reader with one thing to think about or do.
